ALAM: Former University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) vice chancellor Tan Sri Dato' Sri
Professor Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar will be awarded the emeritus professor
title by the university in its 84th convocation ceremony this coming Saturday.
Executive
officer of Corporate Communications Department UiTM, Manurul Asikin Tukiran said
apart from contributing to the development of UiTM as a well known higher
learning institution, Prof. Dr. Sahol has also struggled for the rights of bumiputera
to have proper education.
Prof.
Dr. Sahol was UiTM’s eighth vice-chancellor and has served the university since
1980.
Manurul
Asikin added that UiTM will also be awarding the Chief Justice of Malaysia, Tun Arifin
Zakaria the honorary Doctorate degree in Law.
The
award will be presented by the Yang di Pertuan Agung Yang di-Pertuan Agong,
Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
There
will be 73 students that will be graduating their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
for the first session this Saturday.
Other
than Shah Alam, UiTM’s convocation ceremony will be held in other campuses at Melaka,
Kelantan, Kedah, Perlis, Sabah and Sarawak.
The
total of students that will be graduating in the 84th convocation
ceremony is 15594.
